Marching...

We drove through the strip pits yesterday on our way to Walmart.  We saw this fellow/gal crossing the road.  When I got out to take photos, he did not slow down.  He turned around and was going in front of our Rav4, so I picked him up to help him along and he just didn't stop.
By the way, notice how he almost glows?  You are seeing the real thing...he really did seem to glow with color.  And when Roger and Sarah went mushroom hunting, they found one just as brightly colored, and maybe a little bit more so.

  1. A fine shot to show this turtle's impressive color scheme. I've never seen one with this much color.

  4. His pattern and colors are just beautiful! And I love the way that his body pattern perfectly matches his shell. Wonder how to tell how old he is?

  5. I was a mean kid. :) When I was little and we would find one of those once in a while we would get a match, light it, and put it closer and closer to their rear end until their legs popped out and they started walking. :)

  8. I have never seen one as bright as that. They are much more muted here. He's pretty.
