We have not seen many hawks this summer...I seriously doubt we have seen a dozen. Compared to used to if we took a day trip, we might have seen close to a dozen. The other day when I drove through the strip pits on my way to Paris, I spotted this one. First on the ground and then in the air when I stopped to try to capture him. He definitely looks bigger in the air than he did on the ground.
Wonderful! It looks like his beak is open, and you even caught the markings!
ReplyDeleteP.S. it is so hard to capture a flying bird without it being blurry, I don't know how you did it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great capture Rose. We do see quite a bit of them around here.
ReplyDeleteI never seem to be able to capture them very successfully -- always flying away from me! Great capture Rose.
ReplyDeleteGood shot, Rose.
ReplyDeleteMaybe all the hawks flew our way because our squirrel, chipmunk and small bird population has been seriously "culled"!!
great shot, he is beautiful
ReplyDeletepretty one. i just love their feather patterns.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how big they are when they fly. Ive seen quite a few this summer. In the winter, I've counted up to fifty on a single trip to Chattanooga from here in north Alabama. That's a great shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! Internet Explorer still wouldn't let me view your page today, so I switched to Chrome, glad I did! Wouldn't have wanted to miss this.
ReplyDeletewow. they r every where n VA. I will send u a few. ( ;
ReplyDeleteThe wings look so strong and long - how cool you've managed to capture him flying!
ReplyDeleteExcellent capture. It is so hard to get a good picture of a bird on the wing. MB
