Rurality blog post..

 For my Rurality blog post, I am going back in time for my pics. I am showing picks from nearby Parke County of some of the Amish hard at work.
 These were taken in 2010. 
And just for fun, nothing says rural to me quite like chickens!

    I love the idea of doing the work with horses. some small loggers out here do some of the work with horses--it is safer on the forests. I love a chicken in the rain. LOL
    We will be gone for a bunch of days . going to house sit for Cheri on the ranch while they go visit their son in Oregon. I should be a challenge and mass photo op. we are going to hunt for arrowheads too. MB

    i'm just amazed that the baler can form a bale being pulled by horses. i know that sounds weird, but in this modern age of hydraulics and speed, it's rather nice to see a slower way. :)

    Having the hay wagon directly behind the small square baler takes a lot of work out of that job. I have never seen that before.

    That horse drawn baler is something to see. The fellow bucking bales back on that wagon is in for lots of heavy work. A fine series.

    Love the Amish photos! The Amish in our neighborhood don't use haybaling machines; they throw loose hay onto a wagon. And I so agree with your appreciation of chickens! The only thing that keeps me from getting chickens is the thought of going outdoors to feed and water them when it's below zero degrees and a foot or more of snow outside.

    Great photos! I so enjoyed them.

    I enjoyed these photos very much, Rose. They remind me of trips I often took with my late husband to Holmes County, Ohio, where many Amish reside. I loved going there. The hen is a pretty one. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, Nancy
