We saw this piece of machinery a few years ago, and I have never forgotten it. So when we went up to Jasper-Pulaski Wildlife place today, we hunted it up again.
We have no idea what this was...we think maybe something to do with strip mining.
We are not sure of that. We just know if you got hurt while using or working on this thing, you would be seriously hurt.
it is a beautiful old and rusty whatever it is thingy.. and i can see the danger when it was in use. excellent photos of it

ReplyDeleteKind of reminds me of some of the old oil well machinery.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm interesting looking at the ratchets and the brakeband with it's associated lever I would think it to be a winch. By the size of it a stationary one, is there an incline nearby it may have been used to haul stuff up it. Well that's my ten pence worth. Cheers - Jim
