I wonder if their hearing is better than a horse's hearing...they seem so much bigger. Then that makes me wonder if they are actually bigger, or do they just look bigger because maybe their actual face is smaller? Something to think about. Also, what do you think about those hooves? I have not googled it yet, but they look like they need trimming to me. But I don't really know...I don't have experience in that dept.
And then there are the flies....
I am linking this with Eileen's Saturday's Critters....if you have never visited her blog, she has a lot of great bird shots.
donkeys and mules' ears are definitely longer than a horse's. as for the hooves, they tend to turn up more, too, as they get long. a former neighbor used to keep a mound of rock and gravel in her pasture and said it was so her donkey's hooves would trim off. i don't know if it worked. my neighbor usually gets her mini-mules trimmed by the farrier every few months.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet face.
ReplyDeleteWhat great ears and sweet face. :)
ReplyDeleteDespite their reputation, I've never met a mule that wasn't sweet-natured; and those hooves definitely need a trim, poor baby!
ReplyDeleteFunny critter. Yes those hooves do need a trim. Ole fuzzy wuzzy.

I am curious, were there other pasture mates or was he on his own? When I see one of anything in a pasture I always feel like they might be lonely. Just saying...lol.
