Beewolf--Correction...it is a Cicada Killer

These photos are not cropped.  You might enjoy clicking to expand the view.  We call them beewolves...not sure if that is the right identification.

Thanks to Sandra, it has been identified as a cicada killer.

I watched this guy for half an hour while tried to drag this cicado down through a crack.

I was about 4 ft away from it.

I should have tried a little video, but didn't think about it.

I do hope you found the photos interesting...

  6. very intersting, awesome photos... we have them here and they are called cicada killers, google that and you will find them. the first one we ever saw was 2 inches long, bob killed it and we took it to the county to find out what it was, he said he did not know but looked it up. now they are every where and that stinger hurts. bob has been stung twice and once was on his tongue, it was sitting on a sandwich and he was looking at me while eating, we eat out by the pool sometimes..

  8. The Cicada killer name fits this insect. I wouldn't want to go too near to it.

  9. Oh my gosh, this is so interesting. I didn't know what the cicada was, and then Nel just mentioned it on her post today. She sees them in her back yard in Georgia. These are awesome pictures, Rose.
