Pandorus Sphinx Moth..not Lime-Hawk Moth

Our daughter sent these to me earlier today...from where she works.  I thought it was a Lime-hawk moth but now not sure at all.  I forgot to ask her what she had found.

I think it is gorgeous...

There are some woods not far from where she works, it is on the edge of Terre Haute.  Anyway, she has visitors quite often of this sort.  You can see a couple of other moths Here and Here...

Also, thanks to Ginny for the ID....

  1. Eumorpha Pandorus or Pandorus Sphinx. That is what the moth is. It is amazing! Looks like it is wearing an army camouflage uniform!!!

  13. My goodness! That's a truly amazing moth. I've never seen anything like it. It must be so hard to spot when it sits in the foliage.
