A gathering....

I always love to watch them...and wonder why they gather like this in the fall.  Is it safety in numbers?

And why do they pick a spot in the road and gather there, then fly away in just a few minutes...

  3. Fantastic photos. They probably think similar thoughts when they fly over a city in the rush-hour.

  5. this is amazing, we have seen this many black birds here, but these don't looke like blackbirds to me.. never seen them in the road like this. that second one is spectacular.

  6. Wow, that's a lot of birds at one time, Rose. I just saw some geese this morning, but I usually see them in families of about seven or so. Great pictures!

  8. Yes the type seems to need to be flocked together for their every move.

  10. Great shots - we had some of them land on the road right in front of our car (we were driving very slowly along a gravel road) - they flew up and landed a few feet away in the road - repeated this several times until we were laughing so hard we had tears running down our faces - they kept this up for almost five minutes - moving just a few feet ahead of the car each time - silly birds.
