As photographers we seem to be hung up about having any pure white areas in our shots. I think this may be a throw-back to the old Kodachrome 64 colour slide days when white looked horrible on the screen. On a print, or indeed on the computer screen, there's nothing wrong with it. After all traditional Chinese painters left huge blank areas in their work. Here I think it shows off the deep colour of the leaves to good effect.
