From the strip pits....again

This is the first Dickcissel I have photographed this summer....the first one that has given me the opportunity.

Believe it or not, this guy was in the same tree as the Dickcissel.  It is the Common Grackle, I think.

Also saw this Eastern Kingbird.

I am not sure what these are...the photo is not very good.  But if you know, please tell me.  The thought crossed my mind that they might be female Mallards, but I seen no males around the pond.

IF I can remember I am going to link these photos with I'd Rather Be Birdin' and also to Eileen's Saturday's Critters.

  1. These are special birds. I have never seen Dicksissal or a Kingbird. And the shots are great, too.

  4. Beautiful birds. I like birds visiting my garden, but they are mostly the common birds. Have a great weekend!

  5. They appear to be female wood ducks. Mallards don't have those eyes. The Dicksissal is a new on on me. Their beaks remind me of grosbeaks. Grosbeaks show up here for a couple of weeks a year--- just passing through.

  13. I don't know some of these birds, but I do recognize the Grackle. We have them here, and most people do not much like them.

  17. As others have pointed out they are female Wood Ducks, not as striking as the males, but of a subdued beauty to be sure.
