This is the first Dickcissel I have photographed this summer....the first one that has given me the opportunity.
Believe it or not, this guy was in the same tree as the Dickcissel. It is the Common Grackle, I think.
Also saw this Eastern Kingbird.
I am not sure what these are...the photo is not very good. But if you know, please tell me. The thought crossed my mind that they might be female Mallards, but I seen no males around the pond.
IF I can remember I am going to link these photos with
I'd Rather Be Birdin' and also to Eileen's
Saturday's Critters.
These are special birds. I have never seen Dicksissal or a Kingbird. And the shots are great, too.
ReplyDeletethis is lovely..I saw your other pictures too. Loved the painted lady!!
ReplyDeleteThe b8ird shots are great..These may be mallards...Great 9images !!!!

Beautiful birds. I like birds visiting my garden, but they are mostly the common birds. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey appear to be female wood ducks. Mallards don't have those eyes. The Dicksissal is a new on on me. Their beaks remind me of grosbeaks. Grosbeaks show up here for a couple of weeks a year--- just passing through.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. I wouldn't have been able to say what the other birds were let alone the last one.
ReplyDeleteHello, what a nice variety of birds. I do love the wood ducks and the Dickcissel. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love birds. These are beautiful close ups. friendship
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of this group is the Kingbird - I don't see them often, so each sighting is special.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend!
Hello Rose

Beautiful close-ups of these birds that you've captured!! I do believe those are female mallards.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful! Love the ducks and that Dicksissal. We had that bird on our calendar last month!
ReplyDeleteI don't know some of these birds, but I do recognize the Grackle. We have them here, and most people do not much like them.
ReplyDeleteLovey pictures. The duck is a female Wood Duck and her young.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful bird pictures! I also thought that the bottom picture were mallards but looking more closely, they are something else!
ReplyDeleteThey are female WOOD DUCKS! And, I'm jealous. I've tried for years to find wood ducks.
ReplyDeleteExceptional photos...As always thanks for sharing your photos & expertise with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week.
As others have pointed out they are female Wood Ducks, not as striking as the males, but of a subdued beauty to be sure.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.

Nice selection of birds. I agree that the ducks are maybe wood ducks. Not Mallard for sure.
