You really can't tell it from this picture, but almost any train around here is a long train. Terre Haute has lots of railroads...the day that Roger was transferred from Indianapolis to Terre Haute, we almost never got past this one train. My daughter was driving and she happened to remember one last route to try. And just barely made it before that crossing was closed. Roger was moved by ambulance.
A great view of this powerful engine. I like how it is painted! I used to get stuck at a train crossing more often than not on my way to work and if it was a freight train, I was in trouble!
ReplyDeleteYes, I've seen some long ones in Wyoming. Unfortunately, they were hauling coal.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a train like this! Most of ours are ugly, and also have graffiti on them.

ReplyDeleteI lived near the main Northern line in Sydney and we had many goods trains go by. When the last truck was passing our suburb's platform, the engine was 2km down the track in the main centre of Hornsby - thankfully there are bridges all over now. Lovely shot! YAM xx
I like the way that one is painted. There are train tracks between my house and where I work. Thankfully I never have to wait on my way to work. I have come home a couple times for lunch and got stuck waiting for a train on my way back. At least most that go through here aren't too long
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice looking engine. I has been awhile since I have seen a train, the last time it was just sitting on the track not moving. Have a happy day and a great weekend ahead!
Union Pacific is a familiar sighting here as well. Thankfully, they're below the bluff and out of the way...most of the time. I love seeing them lined up in the rail yards.
ReplyDeleteYes train crossings can seem never ending. A beautiful view of this engine. Friendship
ReplyDeleteThis is a great photo. I can hear a train from our home and it is a nice sound but it never interferes with traffic.
ReplyDeletei love trains ... always fan ... not sure where? but they were showing a train that had come out of retirement ... and was working well again. so pretty and make me emotional ... i just remember all the happy train times i had as a kid ... such a fan. the sound makes me happy. a happy sound indeed!! ReplyDeleteYes, some of those trains can be quite long.
We, lived in Norfolk, VA at one time and they had some long trains too!!

ReplyDeleteThis train looks great. The ones here are kind of ugly and painted on.
