These two doves were lit in the road ahead of us while driving through the strip pits last night.
The hawk below is just two views of the same hawk...
I have tried to improve them, and I guess they are improved when compared to the straight out of the camera shot. Both are cropped photos.
This hawk was from a different day, a bit farther west than the strip pits.
Splendid plumage detail captured in these shots!
ReplyDeleteI hope that he didn't have his eye on the mourning doves. These are beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteLooks like even hawks have a bad hair day. That one feather sticking up is kinda cute.
ReplyDeleteFierce hawk photos!
ReplyDeleteThe hawk is very striking, both pictures are even more so with the pole and guy wires. Excellent.

ReplyDeleteThe little dove... was somewhere near where the hawk was watching...??? I shall wipe the possible scenario from my mind and say thank you for sharing these fine shots with us (I occasionally have to trim to get closer too!) YAM xx
I always like listening to the doves. Love the feathers on that hawk.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI always love the sweet doves. Cute photos. The Hawk is looking for dinner, great sightings. Wishing you a great day!
doves are in the top 3 of my favorite birds, they are so sweet and dumb and I love their cooing.... I say dumb because they walk around on the ground in harms way and never even know it. they are prime targets for the hawks
ReplyDeletethe brown dove imges are lovely !
ReplyDeleteI love the hawks too!
Devi:)
The doves have such sweet eyes. The hawk looks imposing in this light. Friendship
ReplyDeleteAh, so the hawk wasn't eyeballing the doves, phew. I see lots of hawks up and down the highways, I always picture them like the dog in Foghorn Leghorn punching a time clock before they perch.
ReplyDeleteLike those mourning doves.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
The little doves are so sweet. I like to see the feathers on the hawk.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. There is a hawk that occasionally lands in nearby trees, eyeing birds at our bird feeders and squirrels below. So far it seems the the close trees discourage his swooping in to make a meal of the birds, but his wingspread and flight are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love the doves against the golden gravel.
ReplyDeleteRose, can you explain to us a little about what the strip pits are where you are taking so many wonderful photos?

ReplyDeleteI have had more hawks in my yard this year than ever before. I worry about feeding the birds because that come from out of nowhere and attack.
ReplyDeleteAahh, my beloved mourning dove. I love this bird, Rose, and see it around here a lot. Lately, I've been hearing one cooooo outside my bedroom window. : ) Lovely pictures. This one is a bit darker than the ones I see around here.
