Caught coming and going....
This is a house that I love...I should be able to go right to it but for the life of me, I cannot think where it is. Only that it is north of us. This photo was taken at 2:01 pm on Feb 2, 2011.
This one is on the way home one hour later...what a contrast in color. Notice there are no shadows in the second shot. Both are drive by shots. On both shot I clicked 'I'm Feeling Lucky', and then went to HDRish...yes I am still using Picasa most of the time. I always slide the bars way back compared to what it pops up as.
It is hard to believe there is that much difference in color, but I assure you my original photos show the same difference. It may also do with the direction we are going.
I thought it was a different building! The position of the sun can really change colors. In the first shot it is glowing like gold, and the second one is so much more flat and dull.
ReplyDeleteThis house is beautiful. I love the color. It looks so well built and built a long time ago. Gorgeous images.
ReplyDeleteBeen there a very long time...

ReplyDeleteYup, the angle of the sun is responsible for that difference (I have done an am/pm comparison on the view from my window, coming up on the bloggy ere long). It's a lovely house - would love to see inside that attic! YAM xx
Quite a difference!
ReplyDeleteUm belo edifício, gostei.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

It's a beautiful building. I love those rounded windows at the top. The sun can make a huge difference in how a picture looks.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty house, I love when the sun shines on the home making it a brighter yellow. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend!
I like the first picture better than the second. It's an interesting and unusual choice of color. I love the attic Windows!
ReplyDeleteit is the direction of the sun, shooting into sun or with it behind you... I notice this all the time. the houses when I am walking are totally different when walking both ways... when I do drive by house shooting I always look for the ones the sun is shining on. I love those shadows in the first shot. when I sold real estate, a photographer who took house photos for us to put in the advertising, said always take the photos when sun is on them...
ReplyDeleteI find that you like this house so much is kind of funny to me. On the road heading north for us, there are two houses very similar to this one but neither is pained, but left brick as built. I have always loved both of them, though they don't have those wonderful windows on the 3rd floor. One of them has an addition on the back that attaches the garage. I wish a house like that would have been available when we bought this one, though I doubt I would be able to navigate the stairs now.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
xx, Carol
Nice images Rose..but God help me, I wouldn't wish to live in this house!! The building is nice ...may be for a hostel ...but of course tastes differ!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend :))))
Devi :)
Looks like a beautiful big house.
ReplyDeleteThis is a charming house, Rose. I actually like both the yellow colors. The first one looks like a mustard yellow. That one spoke to me most. : )

I like the first one best.
ReplyDeleteThe old school in town here is a similar color.
Light and shadow make all the difference! Friendship
ReplyDeleteFine pictures of this great looking house. Sunlight changes during the morning and late afternoo that can affect the house color.
ReplyDeleteIt is a classic brick house, with a yellow coating.
ReplyDeleteThis was quite the house in its day and still is.
ReplyDeleteI think the sunshine in the first picture adds to the beauty of this house.
ReplyDeleteThe light can really make a big difference in the colors, and these shots are a good example of that.
ReplyDeleteThis house certainly has character. Too bad there is not a camera that could satisfy my curiosity about the people who live in fascinating homes. Yes, I'm that nosy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised at the difference in colors --- that's why it's so hard to pick out paint. The colors depend on the lighting.
ReplyDeleteI do like the house. :)
