What a beauty...first he was in one tree across the creek. It was hard to get a shot through the bushes on my side. He took off and was close enough I could hear the swoosh of his wings.
He flew down the creek just a short ways and lit in another tree.
WOW!!! He is perfect! And you have captured his fierceness so well! I have never seen one in the wild, I think they may be kind of rare, or at least endangered.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent bird, glad he eventually settled away from intervening branches for you. Strangely enough I was reading about Bald eagles just before going to sleep last night. More specifically the writer was talking about the bird's similarity to our White-Tailed Eagle, a recently re-introduced species to the West of Scotland. Both birds, unlike our other eagle, the Golden Eagle, are reasonably comfortable around people - you're lucky to get within a mile of a Golden Eagle and it's only ever seen in the remotest parts of Scotland. There's some talk of re-introducing the White Tailed Eagle to the Norfolk coast - I hope it happens in my lifetime.

ReplyDeleteAwesome shots. There used to be some around here and a girl I worked with would go watch them all the time. I went with her once but was never able to spot them.
ReplyDeleteThe Bald Eagle population seems to be increasing up here in Northern Indiana. Every now and then we see one and always stop to watch one if he is perched. Thrilling for me to see one live.!!
