Ring-necked Duck

Just a couple pics from today.

I have tried to snag a pic of them before, but never had even this much success.  They usually take off to the far end of the pond.

  1. A new one to me, they are pretty! They look like someone painted white lines on them.

  3. She's giving him the eye in the second shot. They're like the Goldeneye Ducks in our mountain lakes, I guess, very wary.

  4. I had to laugh when I saw these. It reminds of an old married couple whos fighting. They are both looking the other way and then in the second one with the one turned towards the other like it's picking up the argument...lol

  6. how exciting! they are beautiful, I love the way they look painted. Big had an exciting duck spotting yesterday, no pics though. a mama mallard and her half grown baby wandered across the road slowly in front of us. no lunging by Big but he wanted to...

  9. They look very like our Tufted Ducks. Ring-Necked Ducks do turn up in the UK occasionally but I've never seen one.

  11. I know this is a Ring-necked Duck, but to me it would be more correct to call it a Ring-billed Duck. You got great pictures.

  12. yeah, wildlife shots are tough. i hate to post rear end shots which just demonstrate that I missed the shot I wanted. But sometimes I do, too.
