Volunteer...

This is my one and only sunflower....I meant to actually plant some this year and just did not get to it.

We always called anything that came from a random seed dropped by birds, etc a volunteer.

  1. Rose, I think this is the pretties sunflower photo I've ever seen, really.

  7. It's pretty. I love sunflowers. When my husband was filling bird feeders, I always had these growing underneath them courtesty of the birds. They were small ones but they were pretty.

  10. "Volunteer" seems to be an American expression, though it is catching on here too. We always used to call them "self-sets", though I don't think I've ever had a sunflower appear by that means.

  14. So pretty and such happy flowers.
I would be happy if one of mine survive. Planted so many of them and the chipmunks dug them up. I saw a bird pecking at the little seedlings to though. Sunflowers here are still small and won't be blooming for quite a while yet.
