I call them lily pads, but is that the correct name for them if they are from Lotus flowers. Thankfully I don't have to drive an hour now to see them...these are about 10 minutes away...
i did a quick goolge search, just for myself and it looks like lotus leaves are called lotus leaves and lily leaves are called lily pads. lotus is round, lily has a dip in it. but that said you cerainly can call them lotus pads and we will know they are beautiful.
wow...they look lovely..both the images. I love these buds and some in the process of opening and also some- few-where petals have fallen off! Beautiful images Devi :)))
since you corrected me a few weeks ago about lilies and lotuses, I think I should hold you to correct nomenclature! (JK). It is quite a contrast between the flat featureless pads and the rising, opening blooms
Wow, you are lucky! There are none around here, and seeing one is a rare occurance. They are lovely, and this is what I call them, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the lily pads and lotus flowers are absolutely amazing!

Great find captured here! Amazing how they grow and then stop to float at the surface. How do they know to stop? :-) They look large from this PoV.
