Lovely images.. Though they look more or less the same, there is a slight variatiobn in the shape of the wings and colours!!And of course in the tip of the antennae!! Devi :)))
If they are different and this is the first time I've ever seen him side-by-side to tell the difference. The Viceroy is absolutely stunning and that photo is gorgeous it's like he posed in just the right place for you to get the top part of the yellow flower to make a perfect photo
I wouldn't notice, either, if I saw one or the other out flitting from flower to flower. I guess those viceroys aren't so tasty as a Monarch. As always, your photos are wonderful!
Perfect!! Love the first one best of all. The yellow flowers make the butterfly even prettier. I knew the difference between the two butterflies was slight and always forget which is which.
Wow, these are very alike! The photos look like a professional took them for a magazine!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful comparison shots.
ReplyDeleteI can see a difference, but I probably wouldn't notice if I saw one or the other in the wild. Thanks for the education.
ReplyDeleteA fine looking fellow! Thanks for sharing, Rose.
ReplyDeleteFrom the photos you shared, I now can see the difference between the two. Your photos are sharp and the details are very clear. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe patterns is just one feature.
ReplyDeleteThey do look a lot alike. Had you not said one was a Monarch and one was a Viceroy I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterfly captures!
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a happy Friday and a great weekend!
I would have just assumed both were Monarch butterflies!

They are shaped very differently. But both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterflies. I loved to see them as a kid.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful pictures of the butterfly. No I don’t see the difference. I am not expert enough.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I love candles, but don't light them as often as I'd like to either.
Have a peaceful weekend.
