Ready for take-off!
This was taken back in July. I hope I get to see more, but I would not bet on a chance to photograph any of them.

Wide open spaces...
Who, besides me, loves clouds like this?
**********
The photo in the previous post, Hidden Silk, is a milkweed pods gone to seed. And the title Hidden Silk comes from the following poem:
SEPTEMBER
by: Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885)
HE golden-rod is yellow;
- The corn is turning brown;
- The trees in apple orchards
- With fruit are bending down.
- The gentian's bluest fringes
- Are curling in the sun;
- In dusty pods the milkweed
- Its hidden silk has spun.
- The sedges flaunt their harvest,
- In every meadow nook;
- And asters by the brook-side
- Make asters in the brook.
- From dewy lanes at morning
- The grapes' sweet odors rise;
- At noon the roads all flutter
- With yellow butterflies.
- By all these lovely tokens
- September days are here,
- With summer's best of weather,
- And autumn's best of cheer.
- But none of all this beauty
- Which floods the earth and air
- Is unto me the secret
- Which makes September fair.
- 'T is a thing which I remember;
- To name it thrills me yet:
- One day of one September
- I never can forget.

Hidden silk...
This is the first one of the fall for me...it was taken September 8. I saw one or two more, but most were still green.

Seed pod, pt 1
I always take their photo...every year, if given the opportunity. For the longest time I had a much longer drive to see any. Now they are about 5-10 minutes from me.

Gone now
This was taken the end of July...we were by there the other night and about all that is left are the seed pods. I am so glad to have some close by to photograph.

Approaching the end of it's season
This was taken back in July...the birds got most of the seeds. Before they were all totally gone, the heads of the sunflowers totally disappeared. I assume squirrels got them.

Day's end....
Another sunset...I know. But no two are ever the same. I never tire of them. Right now, my favorite place to watch the sun go down is blocked by corn that is about 10 ft. tall. That is not much of an exaggeration either.
