There is a method of counting that's sometimes used by birdwatchers. You divide the photo into small squares then count how many birds in one square, then multiply up to make an estimate of the total number in the photo. I reckon, by that method, that there's between 4,000 and 5,000 birds in that last photo.
I have just learned about snow geese this year and experienced them at a wildlife refuge. It's two hours away but we get up there a few days each month. Great shots of the geese filling the sky.
This is totally amazing! I love it when they fly in such large numbers. I have only seen this a couple of times at Blackwater Wildlife Reserve and I never tire of seeing it! These are magnificent images.
