Handsome fellow

I seldom see any of these Ring-necked Pheasants.   Another bit of wildlife that I miss.

  1. A familiar sight in the British landscape, but, iconic as they are, they are not native to these islands, having been imported centuries ago from the far east.

  2. I've only seen one once-- many years ago. I've seen his cousin, the grouse, sitting in a tree at the end of our yard--But that poor fellow lacked the beauty of the pheasant.

  7. He is beautiful. We used to see them around here when we first moved here and now we don't. I'm wondering if they were hunted.

  13. This is such a pretty bird. My Dad used to go Pheasant hunting. I don't remember them being this pretty, and I don't remember the red on them.
