A familiar sight in the British landscape, but, iconic as they are, they are not native to these islands, having been imported centuries ago from the far east.
I've only seen one once-- many years ago. I've seen his cousin, the grouse, sitting in a tree at the end of our yard--But that poor fellow lacked the beauty of the pheasant.
He is gorgeous! We NEVER have them!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty bird. My Dad used to go Pheasant hunting. I don't remember them being this pretty, and I don't remember the red on them.
