I could not get a clear shot. Even though it did not seem to be paying any attention to me, I was afraid to risk getting closer. I think I would have had the same situation to deal with no matter where I was.
A lot of birds like to hide in the branches. My one cardinal shot was the best as all the rest he looked like he was intentionally hiding. It is a natural shot, great photo with such good color.
A Pleated! They are so large and impressive! And they are known to run around to the other side of the tree trunk from wherever you are. So you did great to capture this much of him!
What a beautiful Woodpecker. They are so funny to watch. One was pecking on the eaves of my house for awhile, and even during the night, and I did not like that fellow too much then. Your Woodpeckers are a bit different than ours here. Ours has a red head. : )

ReplyDeleteIt's a lot better than not taking the shot. 😊
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of Woody Woodpecker's laugh--- I love watching them when we can. We don't see them as often as we hear them.
ReplyDeleteEach time I see a photo of a pileated, I turn green with envy!!! They are not here in Corpus.
ReplyDeleteThe Pileated Woodie is a great bird, nice sighting.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day and a great new week!
He can hide but that red head will give him away.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture and a natural image! Obstacles are a way of life sometimes.

His red head sure stands out. :)
ReplyDeleteNice try and you got really close. There was just that one pesky branch.
ReplyDeleteWow that's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThat is cool shot.
ReplyDeleteThat red colour is amazing.
ReplyDeleteAw!! But it looks soooo pretty!! Though that twig hides a little bit of the anatomy:))))
ReplyDeleteThis fellow has been on my bird bucket list for the longest time. I still have not seen one even though I have heard them. A fabulous image!
