Photogenic flower....

I take photos of these flowers almost every year...actually most times I see them I cannot resist them.

A little bit worse for wear....

Wouldn't you know the best photo I got the other day was one that had a little bit wear on the wing's edges.

Fence and flowers

I love fences...I don't know why. This just seems like such a bright little spot....I love these Black-eyed Susans any time so to see them against the white fence was more than I could resist....I was saying stop, stop...back up a little bit!

And tan.....

This barbershop is also across from the Vermillion County courthouse...I love the 'and tan' part It makes me smile. I am not even sure this is in business at all. It really looked empty.

Corner shot

This was at an Amish farm up near Shipshewana....it seems to me that the Amish homes always have beautiful flower gardens. They may live a plain life, but it sure isn't dull. I did not even notice the paint coming off the corner at first...that mass of plants and color caught my eye. I notice the peeling paint afterwards.

One-stop shopping

We stopped up in Newport Sunday...I took photos of the Vermillion County courthouse...this was across the street on one side. I suggest that you enlarge it it and take a good look at it. Look at the sign...it is a one-stop shopping place. I may be joking, but I bet the people are really happy to have it there. Otherwise, it would be a bit of a drive to go get even a gallon of milk.
And if you have a minute to spare, enlarge this and look at the paint job. It is really an amazing job...

One more from Amish country

I have never done this work, but have always thought it must be a backbreaking job to do.

Another Amish farm...notice the wheels on the wagons if there is any doubt in your mind.

You know, it is hot enough work putting up hay. But have you ever worked in black clothes...I haven't. But, when I worked at the orchard, I had the off white painter's pants I wore in the summer...but occasionally would end up wearing just jeans and man, is there a difference. I really felt the heat more with the darker colored jeans.

Not good technically

This shot is not good technically, but there is something about it that I love.

I think almost any of us seeing this would know we are in Amish country....now, in the neighborhood here, you never see a kid with a basket on their bike. When I was a kid, I wanted one on mine...

Horizontal or vertical--what's your pick

I just wondered which of these people would prefer...I don't know which I like best myself.
One time I like one, but the next time I come back to them, I am apt to like the other.

My backseat companion

Actually, he is not in the backseat, but on the door....I was driving around at the strip pits and caught his vision out of the corner of my eye. So, I stopped and took two or three shots. He continued to ride there for a while, with me feeling his presence there beside me. How do you like those green eyes?

A view a little different from most of a gorgeous butterfly...a swallowtail of some kind but not sure what.

Comments wanted....

Below you will find 2 photos + a copy of each photo. In both cases the first is the one straight out of the camera except reduced in size...which is much darker than it actually was. Well, even the the ones I have manipulated in Photoshop are still darker.
I really hope you will click on each one and compare...and tell me which you like the best. Or tell me if the first one is so dark you can't make heads or tails of it.
I really need some feedback on these...I sort of like all of them but I am looking at them on my laptop, and I know when I go look at the on the desktop once published they will look different there.
Different there almost always means darker, but when I go to Sarah and Jeremy's house and get on their computer, they are usually not as dark as on our old desktop, but probably still a bit darker than on here.
So, I am hoping for feedback on these...just to see how they look on yours....or anyone else you might get to look at them.

Another porch

Another house across from the jail...doesn't that porch look so inviting? I would want to sit out there all the time if it were mine.

Front porch views

This home was across the street from the Old Jail Museum in Albion, Indiana. Who can resist fretwork like this?
This set of steps came right off the corner...I have seen this a few times, but not with all the ornate woodwork done here.
I was over in front of the jail looking back towards the home and could not resist another photo.

The stairs

Even the stairs were amazing at the Noble County Courthouse....I have never seen any so ornate.
Again I have played with the lighting...if it is really bad please tell me.
I don't think I would mind seeing these steps everyday.

Let there be light

I hope you can see this...I have played with it in photo shop because I think it was too dark. Hopefully I have not went too far the other way. It is so hard to tell what things look like on a laptop.

Anyway, it is in the Noble County Courthouse...I think the judge told us it had been restored. It sure is a beauty.

Here we have Noble County Courthouse

On my other blog, I have posted the Old Jail Museum in Albion, Indiana--which is the county seat of Noble Country. I just happened to see it when we stopped for me to take photos of this courthouse.
I think it is one of the most beautiful courthouses I have seen....
I could not take it all in in one shot.
And these are just the outside of the building.

See the gentleman with the blue shirt in the above photo...we were talking to him. He suggested we go inside, and told us there were old photos on the walls taken way, way back. (He is also who told us about the Old Jail Museum on my Pics & Pieces Blog.)

When we finally made it inside, he was in there and he grabbed a judge and told him he should take us around and tell us about the courthouse. The judge was so nice and friendly, and even took us to the third floor and opened this one courtroom that had been restored to the way it was originally. I did not take photos..I felt rude taking photos with him talking, but now I wish I had asked him if he minded.

I sure wish this were closer--I am sure I would be taking lots of photos there.

From the road....

I wondered if the boards were taken down on purpose on this barn...it seemed so well taken care of otherwise. Or maybe it is just starting to be repaired and the boards have not been replaced yet. Either way, I like it.

1937 Hudson Terraplane Pickup

We visited Hostetler's Hudson Auto Museum in Shipshewana on Tuesday...for not being all that big it had some really great cars. I did not get photos of all of them...but I did take photos of a few of them. This 1937 Terraplane pickup is probably the one I would like to own the most. Would I drive it if I did own it? I have no idea...I would want to show it off, but I would sure be upset if someone put a scratch on it...and would want to kick myself for having it out.

I don't think the info mentioned anything about the color of this truck...I don't know if this is an original color combination...I wish I had taken photos of the information cards.
The one thing I do remember about this is that it was popular because it was the first truck that had a bed that would hold a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood.
