For Barn Charm

For Barn Charm this week i am showing several views of the same barn taken over in Illinois....
they were all taken during the middle of the day and not under even half good lighting...specially that first one up there. I hit the auto levels in Photoshop elements and it helped a lot.
The last two here, was a bit better......
wonder how old it is to have a shake roof?

I have a question for those of you who comment...how do you feel about the same person entering more than one blog in the meme? I have so many photos of barns, but feel guilty entering more than one blog though I have done it a time or two. I don't know why I feel guilty cause I enjoy all the barns that are shown, no matter if they are shown by different people or if the same person was to enter them.

Anyway, this is my entry to Tricia's Barn Charm Meme...

  1. I love the shape of the barns you get over there. Ours are very boring in comparison.
I haven't posted anything in a meme before so I can't really answer your question sorry - although I don't really see why there would be a problem. Sorry not much help!!

  2. I think it's a great opportunity to see more barns. So go for it!

  3. love those shake shingles! such great texture, but i'd hate to have them on my barn - they'd probably be burned up!

as for multiple entries from multiple blogs, i'm not going to answer that question, but i'm going to comment on that same subject. i'm going to have to scale back on the blogs i follow (to better manage time AWAY from the computer), and i might start with eliminating double blogs from folks i follow. and i hate it. but i've got to start somewhere. so if i drop off one of yours, please don't take it personally.

  4. I love the peak on this barn along with that roof!
As for your question - I like to try to comment on the other entries here, so I prefer one entry per person. I don't have time to keep leaving comments. I do enjoy looking at the barns, but it's a time thing!

  5. I only do one a week, since I'm pretty sure there will be a week where I don't get out to take photos, so I am building up a small reserve of barns I'll use on those weeks. I think if you're going to enter multiple barns do them in the same post...but that's me.

  7. Love the texture in the shingles. Beautiful barn. And I think the more the merrier!

  8. It's a great old barn, Rose, and I love seeing the different views of it.

As for posting more than one blog to a meme, you know I would visit both of yours. But I probably would NOT visit more than one from anyone else. It's a time thing.

Tricia is celebrating one year. By this time next year you will have used 52 more barns :) I say save them so you don't need to look for any more, (That's what I do.) But if you're like me, you'll keep adding to your collection.

  9. Nice! It's amazing how big these places are. It's also amazing how well built they are to manage to stand for so long without constant care.

  10. I really like this barn, especially the last two pictures. You've done a great job getting these.
I don't think I've ever posted more than one blog on the same meme. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, I just need to stretch out my good pictures as far as I can.

  11. Love this post! I think the old style barns are a dying breed. When is the last time you saw a shiny red, well maintained barn like this?

  12. a really neat barn and I love the varied shots you took. Nice work!

  13. Love those shingles! I would be busy getting shots of them at every angle and in different light (if I lived close enough to visit often!)

I will admit to finding it a little bit annoying when you find several blogs for the same meme are by the same person. I don't understand it, really.

  14. I love this old girl! She looks like she was once a lovely addition to the landscape and probably stood out in her size and color.
I like the faded peeling red paint on the one side and the streaked weather worn patina of the boards on the other.
All these views are really nice Rose.
I've seen multiple entries on other memes (as many as four entries of the same person). I usually only comment on one. Like others, it's a matter of time and getting around to a lot of people.

  15. Some places tell you to only offer one entry, but others don't care. So if it's not against the rules, I see nothing wrong with it! Again beautiful images!!!

  16. Great old barn! Looks like those shingles could use a bit of work.

I think Trish's opinion is the one that counts here, but I don't think it matters if you post more than one entry. Like others I sometimes struggle to keep up with comments so sometimes I just look quickly and move on, and some weeks am only able to visit a few blogs.

  17. I love the different angles taken of this barn.

To answer your question, I would prefer one entry for one person.

  18. beautiful and like the others have said, if there are many entries from the same person, i only visit one blog as my time in the morning is limited :)

  19. I wish I could take a closer look with my barns. Usually it is all drive by shooting and somehow manage to get it right. This barn is for sure busy way moons ago too bad it is abandoned now.
As for your question, I don't know why you can't have two post but for me I want to stretch my barn photos too specially when fall and winter is fast approaching I would have time to roam around looking for barns. Happy Tuesday!

  21. This is a fabulous barn with its failing roof and interesting shapes and windows. Nice one to post.
I haven't thought about multiple blogs….I guess it doesn't matter to me.

  22. Oh Rose, please don't feel guilty! As long as there's a barn in the shot, show as many as you like... I don't mind at all... the more, the merrier =)

This is a great barn! I knew that roof had a specific name, I just didn't know what it was, til now! A shake roof! THANK YOU for that... a while back I was wracking my brain trying to think of it... LoL!

Barn Charm has a birthday in about a month... 1 yr, can't you believe it

Thanks so much for joining each week, Rose - I appreciate ya very much... you've been joining since the beginning =)))

  25. Nice shots, Rose. I like this barn and it is similar to many out this way. Classic style I suppose. MB

  26. This is a great old barn. Isn't lighting just a pain?! We complain if there is no sun, and then we complian if there is too much. I think we all share your frustration with that one. As for your question, It makes no difference to me. Like everyone else, my time is limited, so, I may not comment on more than one post by the same person.

  28. I love the different angles you have shown. This is a beautiful rustic barn.

I often show more than one barn in my posts. Do whatever you want to do.

  29. I love all the barns you post Rose...My feelings...Post away!
I love the shaker roof. I can't say I've ever captured one before.

  30. That took some time for them to do the shingles on that roof! Great looking barn!

  31. What a neat old barn.

It's funny, I noticed a barn in my area with an overhang like that not too long ago. I thought it was relatively unique, but since then I've noticed more and more of them. lol

I suppose it makes sense, as not only does it keep the rain out of the upper storage area, but pullies were probably attached to help with the haying.

  32. I've not seen an overhang like that. It gives the barn an edgy look like it has a bit of an attitude. ;>) It makes sense, but just changes the overal demeanor of the barn. This is a cool discovery.
