Just a tree all alone in the middle of a farm field. I can understand leaving them years ago, but I am surprised that they still leave them. Pleasantly surprised...they really add something to the landscape.
They do indeed. I noticed the other day they cleared some land for more houses here at Stone Creek and they cleared everything. But then they do plant new trees, so that helps.
Wonderful tree! Our small town has had to cut down many trees because they have uprooted the sidewalks. At one time, Main Street looked like a tunnel made of trees. I miss them...so hope they replant with something...anything!
I like seeing them stand alone. It gives them room to grow spread. I'm just afraid this one might have trouble standing in strong winds because it's split off in two. A lovely find Rose!
West of Columbia, MO on the Katy Trail there's a 150+ year old oak tree standing in the middle of a field. It takes 7 grown adults to put their arms around the trunk and that's fingertip to fingertip. I need to bike out there and take a picture of it this summer.

ReplyDeleteVery nice. I would guess if the field is used alternatively for growing and grazing, the tree provides shade for livestock.
