Red-bellied Woodpecker

This guy has been coming on a regular basis...he is getting bolder and doesn't always take flight at my slightest movement.
He does stop and look around often...
He even looked straight in at me but continued to eat.
I finally seen the Mrs. today but have not downloaded those pics yet.

  1. I've noticed many more woodpeckers active during this cold snap we're having.

  2. He is a beauty. The Woodpeckers all seem to love the suet.

  3. Lucky you to get such a beautiful guest to your suet feeder.
We have red headed woodpeckers here but I've never seen one.

  6. I absolutely LOVE the Red Bellied Woodpecker. I have one of those wire cubes on a 4 x 4 post and hang suet feeders in it to keep the squirrels out. My RBWs hang on the outside and poke their bill into the cube while the Downies go inside to enjoy meals. I also hang suet feeders from shepherd hooks and they them also, but like the wire cube more.

A while ago I posted about our dying trees in the back yard. The RBW can be seen there often finding whatever bugs are in those trees. My argument for not cutting them to the ground.
