Tuesday's Treasures
Thanks to Tom, we are going to have a new meme to post to, called Tuesday's Treasures. Don't you love the name. I am scheduling this to post and hoping I don't forget to link up.
To some people, things like this are treasures. And I willingly admit that I like them. But I don't have room for them, therefore I never even think about buying them for myself.
Other people find things like this more interesting. Me, I love looking at them both, but would come nearer buying this second item.

ReplyDeleteI do like that blue Fenton glass candy dish. My paternal grandmother had a couple of Fenton glass lamps in her house. I'm a sucker for that vintage stuff but, like you, have no room for them.

I too love all these old things but no place to keep them. Now what I have are photos. I hope to remember to join/link up with the new meme too.
ReplyDeleteI like to look at the old stuff to and would buy some things but have no place to put them. My other house I had room but I ended up with a lot of junk---cuz it struck my fancy I suppose. got rid of so much stuff.

The Blue Glass Bowl is beautiful but the old hand drill is my pick. I can still remember my Father & Grandfathers having those in their sheds in the days before power drills. As a kid I loved using them to drill holes in just about any old piece of wood I could get my hands on. Drilling holes in things used to fascinate me, especially with those big old auger drill bits. .

ReplyDeleteRose I thinks that you hit the nail on the head...we all have treasures, but often too many. The blue candy dish looks wonderful even without candy in it! I know many Amish men how have a collection of drills like the one you show and use them daily. Thanks for sharing and please stop back with some more treasure,
ReplyDeleteI very much enjoy seeing treasures such as these. I have to be careful not to purchase them though as I am trying to have LESS stuff and not more. Looking is "legal" though. ;)

ReplyDeleteLike the others have expressed; back in the day . . . but as time goes by I find I prefer simple and serene surroundings.
They are all treasures and like you, I enjoy looking at them and I wonder about the places they came from and the folks who used them.

ReplyDeleteMy MIL was a collector of glass items and I was given many by her, but like you, I just don't have a lot of room for them. I do love me some rusty and crusty things...that's more my style :)

ReplyDeleteMy mom liked finding pretty dishes, I inherited her collection, and some from my grandmother's. I do like looking, though rarely buy anything, unless it's Pfaltzgraff Folk Art.
