Farm in Illinois...

I have no idea what these symbols mean...they are on farm buildings/barns over in Illinois.  Not too far from here if I am not mistaken.  These photos are from 2009.  You think the above are a bit odd...they remind me of quilt barns but are not any pattern that I have ever seen.

then there is this...it strikes me funny every time I see it.

  1. Now those are interesting patterns, much larger than I'd expect. Love the dino!

  2. What fun. I wish I could sorta draw and paint and I would do that to my barn.

It is called Strawberry Hill Farm and used to have a sign on the barn but took it down about 10 yrs ago meaning to repaint and just haven't.

  5. Great find! I wonder if these are considered hex signs, Pennsylvania Dutch folk art? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_sign

  8. They do remind me of the Amish "Hex" signs or as someone else said a Quilt pattern. The Dino though is super funny.

  9. Yes the dino is a funny looking thing. There are groups of people in our area that paint quilt pieces and place them no the barns. This reminds mine of it.
