Sunbathing...

Before I forget, if you are interested, and saw my post about Great Blue Herons landing out in the lake....I got to wondering if they can swim.  I remembered seeing either a video or TV show with a Bald Eagle swimming, so I thought why not a GBH.  So, I posted a couple videos over there.

Now, here is my post....


The top of the dam we were on yesterday is a favorite gathering spot of the vultures.  Almost any time we go up there, there are at least a few, sometimes a lot.


Most of these are through the windshield since I am the driver now, I seldom get out of the Rav4 to take photos.





The one above is with my window rolled down...


There was a ruckus going on here, it was just ending as I took this photo.  One or two had already departed their company.

    I love the ruckus shot! You got really good pictures of them! Close up, too. I guess they are not afraid of anyone or anything!

    Hello, they are neat birds. There must be something nearby in the road, for them to hang out there. They are not shy! Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

    I have an affinity for these ugly birds, and that last photo is phenomenal... love it.. God's Garbage Guys, we need them. we saw a dead possum on the road and 3 days later here was not sign..

    Some years back I was driving into one of the Sonoma County towns in California's wine country, and spied at least 12 of them sitting on a fence in someone's front yard. I recall hoping that the residents weren't making their poodle go out into the front yard. Or kid. Seriously, it really was an odd sight. Excellent captures of these.

    We are about a 5 mile straight shot overhead from the landfill. ( Lots longer if you drive). Those vultures fly overhead all the time on their way to dinner, lol.

    Rose, that was interesting to watch the eagle swim. I'm wondering, what was he carrying? He swims with its wings just like we do with our arms, fascinating. : )
