Butterflies...

I think this is some type of Fritillary butterfly...I am not sure which one.  It was so hard to get a photo of it...I am amazed that these shots are as good as it is because it did not hold still for more than a couple seconds.  And please if this is not a fritillary, please tell in the comments.

The above photo is cropped from the original.

This is a little guy...not sure what he is.

He was a tiny bit better than the Fritillary but not by a lot.  These are the best two of the shots I took of him.

Leave you with a another type of butterfly...a group shot.  Not the best...but still fun to see.

  1. They are gorgeous shots! How on earth did you charm them so much that they stayed and posed for you? I have never seen these brilliant yellow ones, they are stunning. And I love the markings on the first one. I have only gotten one butterfly all year, and it is a mere skipper.

  5. I think you are right about the fritillary, and they flutter like mad, ours are Gulf fritillary and similar to this one. I love the last shot of the leaf wings, they are hard to get, we have them but they will not sit still for me

  7. These are fine pictures of these butterflies. I don't know what it is either. Excellent close ups even though they are flighty.

  11. Yes, it's so hard to take a picture of the butterfly, as they are always fluttering about. You managed to get some good ones though, Rose. Love the yellow group picture. His wings are like crepe paper. : )

    Have a nice weekend, dear.
