I think this is some type of Fritillary butterfly...I am not sure which one. It was so hard to get a photo of it...I am amazed that these shots are as good as it is because it did not hold still for more than a couple seconds. And please if this is not a fritillary, please tell in the comments.
The above photo is cropped from the original.
This is a little guy...not sure what he is.
He was a tiny bit better than the Fritillary but not by a lot. These are the best two of the shots I took of him.
Leave you with a another type of butterfly...a group shot. Not the best...but still fun to see.
They are gorgeous shots! How on earth did you charm them so much that they stayed and posed for you? I have never seen these brilliant yellow ones, they are stunning. And I love the markings on the first one. I have only gotten one butterfly all year, and it is a mere skipper.
ReplyDeleteThese butterflies are beautiful. The 1st one has beautiful markings and I like the colour of the butterflies in the last photo.
ReplyDelete...what gifts of nature.
ReplyDeletePretty!! I chased a butterfly all around the Lantana bush in my back yard yesterday trying to get a decent photo...but mine are not at ALL as good as your images! Exceptional beauty Rose.
ReplyDeleteHello, beautiful collection of butterflies. Great photos. Happy Friday, have a great day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about the fritillary, and they flutter like mad, ours are Gulf fritillary and similar to this one. I love the last shot of the leaf wings, they are hard to get, we have them but they will not sit still for me
ReplyDeleteOh I adore butterflies which I'm sure you know by now. Love these and that yellow clouded is one of my favorites. Carol
ReplyDeleteThese are fine pictures of these butterflies. I don't know what it is either. Excellent close ups even though they are flighty.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of capturing those butterflies. It is hard to do.
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies and I am amazed at the details in your photos - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteNice series of photos.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs Rose, you've captured these beauties so well, thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Great shots if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's so hard to take a picture of the butterfly, as they are always fluttering about. You managed to get some good ones though, Rose. Love the yellow group picture. His wings are like crepe paper. : )
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, dear.
