Notice they have all faced forward...I have not always watched but for a while, every time you see birds gathered close together on the power lines, they always seem to face the same direction.
I took similar pictures today - I was amazed at the number of birds on the wires. There are places where they use different methods to keep the birds off the wires because they say that if they all take off at once it can bounce the wires so much that they snap.
I have noticed that birds face the same direction. You would think a few would face backward to watch for hawks, lol. what I wonder is how they fly in and land on that wire without missing! xx, Carol
That's very interesting. I have noticed it a couple of times, but must admit that I really have not watched for this. I will be doing that from now on.
This is an awesome picture, Rose. I just took a picture of five birds of the power line this morning, and they were all facing in the same direction, but one. Look how many birds are on this wire, incredible!

Yes, they do this here, too!! But I never thought about how they face the same direction! Phil says it's because they want to chirp to each other!
