I am now sure what this is...it was taken not in 2011....this is the only view I took. It reminds me of the one below, but not quite it.

These last two photos were originally posted in July of 2017 and no one knew for sure what it was then. I wonder if anyone would venture a guess now. I do know where the one in the bottom two photos were taken, and want to go back there next month to see if I can see it again.
Such beautiful works of art that nature creates! These look like dense fennel blossoms or wild onion. Great find!
