This handsome bird was in a tree beside the highway...these I show you are taken while I sat in the Rav4...
None of the shots are cropped...
I got out and walked across the road to see if I could get a better view without all the twigs in front of her/him but it was even worse. S/he just watched me. I wasn't right under him, but I was sure not far away. I went and got back in the Rav4 and there were two or three cars passed right after and it finally flew away.
What a great find in these photos! The talon in the first photo is impressive. We had a few sightings here near Lake Michigan back in September that took me by surprise. I tried to scope the lakefront thereafter but to no avail.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a grand bird. Great photos, Rose. That first one is awesome.

Great shots Rose! No matter how many eagles we see we are always so excited to see them.
ReplyDeleteWOW, truly amazing! And that he let you get so close! Surely a once in a lifetime event! The photos are great! We have a Rav4!
ReplyDeleteWow! Impressive pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe have nesting pairs every few miles along the Cowlitz River. I love seeing them.
ReplyDeleteA magnificent bird to see. The few eagles we have in the UK are only found in very remote mountain regions.
ReplyDeleteUma ave elegante e imponente.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

WOW, glad you spotted him and could get the pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Sometimes I wonder why it is so thrilling for me to see an eagle or hawks. Hawks are one of my totem animals.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas

ReplyDeleteThese are great pictures of this noble bird. It makes a wonderful series.
ReplyDeleteHe.She is abosolutly stunning. I was going to be the smart one and figure out male/female. brahahaha this is how to tell
ReplyDeleteThe male bald eagles have shorter or smaller beaks. The length of the beak is measured from the top or the protruding end to the chin of the eagle. Female bald eagles have an audibly lower voice than the male bald eagles. The pitch difference between male and female bald eagles can be easily observed.
NOW! your mission if you should choose to take it, is next time measure that beak and when you do it will start to scream at you and you can decide if it is lower or higher voice. got it? beautiful shots
WOW, you were sure in the right place at the right time. Fantastic pictures!!!
