We went to Green Valley the other day....I wanted to go see the turtles...people were already back where I have to go to see them. So I did not get to see if they were there. But I did see this Great Blue Heron, plus a few others over across the the lake. (If you click the above link, there is also a photo or the lake/old strip pit)
A great photo! And I like how his beak is open, too.
ReplyDeleteGood shot. When the Herons see me lift my camera they fly away.

ReplyDeleteWell, that is a good compensation shot! YAM xx
As you can tell by how often I post pictures of them-- I am very fond of them. But they are very silly looking.(except in flight).
ReplyDeleteI love herons. even though I've never seen one in real life. That neck is priceless.
ReplyDeletesweet...and it's talking to us!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous photo. I followed the link and wow what a view on that lake.

ReplyDeleteDevi :)
Herons are one of my favorite birds. This one looks so handsome. A fabulous image!
ReplyDeleteThe blue heron posed very well for your picture.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Rose! It's like a painting! You captured it on a very great stance! I have never seen herons in real life but these blue ones I see also on Eileen and Kenneth's blogs, they all look like paintings! beautiful creatures!
ReplyDeleteIt is really stretching its neck out to look taller for you. Very nice shot.
ReplyDeleteYou got a great shot of this Heron.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that you missed the turtles. I always love seeing them sunning themselves on branches or rocks but this is magnificent! A beautiful portrait of this gorgeous heron!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic shot of the heron!!
ReplyDeleteIt is unusual to see a heron wandering in the grass. He seems to have a round stone or something held in his beak; I have not seen these birds pick up anything but food (but then, I mostly see them fishing for lunch in the shallow water).
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice picture of the Great Blue Heron. I always wondered why he was named that, as I never see much blue on him in photos from the past. But he is a grand bird for sure. : )
