This is sitting outside with all the other stuff. The cabin at Patton's Corner is so small...there is barely room to walk in and turn around. But I still wish this was crammed in there.
I would love to have that in my backyard and just build a little fire in it and sit and stare at it. When we lived in Kentucky the little general store that was probably not even 700 square feet that was in Sloan's Valley that had maybe 20 houses had one exactly like this in the middle of the store on the old wooden floor and they had Barrel sitting all the way around it and that's where all the old men set and told her story
It would certainly heat up the inside. This place reminds me of a junk store that is not too far from where I live. There is so much stuff crammed inside and outside that you can barely turn around. A great image!
a fine specimen built in a simple style. many I have seen have decorative swirls or flourishes on the feet and/or other parts. I hope it is not left out to rust away
I can see that in my yard with flowers planted in it. Nice find.
ReplyDeleteIs it for sale?
ReplyDeleteOh, poor thing to be left out in the elements. 🙁
ReplyDeleteI expect it to say, "DANGER, Will Robinson!" Seriously, I'd love that in the far back of our yard. I think I'd build fires in it!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a waste that it was left sitting outside. Looks in good condition.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering just what some creative artist would do with this piece.
ReplyDeleteImagine that trying to heat your house now. I imagine in it's day it was much appreciated on a cold winters day.

ReplyDeleteOver here, wood-burners are all the rage again... and I could see that being revived for its work! YAM xx
An interesting piece of a heater!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a good bit of rust to get the camera clicking away.

ReplyDeleteI like the rusty patina.
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet that stove put out the heat in its day.
ReplyDeleteThat will have been a good source of heat at one time.
ReplyDeletethis is a wonderful rusted potbelly stove Rose... i love the textures of all the other things scatted about with even more rust....peter:)
ReplyDeleteAmazing stove. It’s huge and impressive.
ReplyDeleteI can see a couple of old guys sitting around it in a general store playing checkers. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my. We also had a wood stove very much like this.

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised it has not been restored and put to use somewhere.
ReplyDeleteBuena reliquia. Mucho habrá calentado Rose.
ReplyDeleteCuídate.
Un abrazo
I would love to browse around this place. I'm assuming this is a stove, that's neat. It looks sturdy.
