Vacancy or No Vacancy

When I see this number of gourdhouses for birds, I always wonder if they are all filled.

  1. Or if any birds are nesting in them at all.

  2. I know little about the birds you have there, but I know that we have some species, notably House Sparrows and Swifts, that like to nest in colonies and only nest where there are many bird boxes.

  5. Hello,
The Purple Martins can usually fill up these houses. Take care, have a happy weekend.

  6. I did not see the birdhouses, I saw the title and was looking at the open and closed doors on the barn and the beatiful diamond pane door and thinking about why that is on a barn and then realized you were talking about the gourds.. how crazy is that?

  9. Wow that's a lot of gourd houses. I wonder if they are in some kind of business that sells them. Wonder what birds find them perfect homes.
    Fascinating

  12. That is a lot of bird houses! I bought two gourd houses and hung them up and they have never been used. It seems like these may be so close together. Nesting birds can be so territorial. What a great find!
