Snow laden

When I was a kid, and there came a fresh snow, I would put on my boots, take the dogs and just go!  To see what kind of tracks we could see, which amounted to rabbit tracks, and maybe bird tracks, and mice.  It was a whole new world..even though I had been over every of acres and acres many times before, it seemed new when it was snow covered.  If the snow was heavy on fence posts, or on  a limb, or just anything, I did not hesitate to take a bite of snow from it.   And we always made snow cream.  I don't think I would do either now.

  1. It's probably best not to eat it now, but I'm glad you have the memories.

a lovely memory - as for now; depends where you reside, of course, but if well into the countryside or high mountains, it might still be worth a go! YAM xx

  4. Snow held much more appeal when we were young. I could stay out in it for hours.

  6. Agree on eating snow. As with me...but it's river water for me.
    Gotta tell you a story...
When I was a kid, I used to scoop up water from the river and cup it in my hands. The icy water was great. Then, one day, walking along after drinking water from the river, camping upstream, a woman was washing out a poopy diaper!! That was the LAST time I ever drank river water.

  10. That's funny that you took a bite of the snow dangling from the trees when you were a kid, Rose. This is my second Winter here in the mountains, and I am still fascinated with the first snowfall.....and the second and third. ; )

  18. Same with me as a kid. And I remember snow ice cream. We begged my mom to make it whenever there was a good snow. Nice snow image.
