These are not from this year.

Better days

This old barn has seen better days...the roof looks like the Midwest wind has been hard at work.

Standing on one leg...

I need to go see if it is still standing...

Early morning light

We were headed north across the Mackinac Bridge early one morning when I snapped this.

Little house

We saw this little house on Mackinac Island in 2008.

Autumn shot

I don't know why I did not post this last fall....love the colors of autumn.

Coot

This photo is heavily cropped.  A few coots seem to return to the strip mining area year after year.  Or maybe they stay there at some of the deeper ponds.

The guard cat

This is the Old Man...he will be 15 in July.  He is also known as the Court Jester, as my Baby Boy, and also he is a Guard Cat.  He does not like another dog or cat to be in the yard.  If a neighbor's dog gets loose, and he is outside, he will chase it away.  And it does not seem to matter what size they are.

Copper

My daughter sent me this the other night...this is the look she gets when she tells him she has a question for him.

Tools of the trade

I have made a very few quilts without these items.  The rotary cutter, the acrylic ruler, and the self healing cutting mat here has made cutting pieces so much more accurate and quicker.  So long as it has a straight line.  And there are some rulers made for cutting circles even.   But as far as rotary cutting,  I mainly only cut pieces with straight lines.  (Though if I am cutting out an item of clothing,  do use my rotary cutter to cut along the lines.)

Jack the Ripper.....

Meet Jack the Ripper Sr. and Jack the Ripper, Jr. aka seam rippers.  The one on the left is from the Clover company, and the one on the right seems to come standard with most sewing machines these days.  If you will notice what I call the shaft--the longest prong...the one from Clover is thinner and better to get into a tiny stitch if you have to take them out singly.

Not final...

These are Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks.  They could be sewn together like this.  But I am leaning towards a different way.  There always comes a point where the a final decision must be made.   And I am the most indecisive person you would ever want to meet.  I can always see so many visions it is hard to choose just one.  BTW, you can click on the photo to get a bigger view.

Robin

The robins are thick in our part of the world right now, yet I can't seem to manage to be out at the right time to get a great photo.  This is a cropped photo.

Shadow

I thought the shadow of the tree on the road made an interesting photo.

Behind the door

One wonders what goes on behind doors that are closed and windows that are covered.  Or I always  wonder.

Daddy's girl

This is Puss Puss...we named her something else, but seems like Roger just always called her Puss Puss.  And she has always favored him.

We are family...

Or maybe they aren't.  I don't know the history of these geese.  I do know that for several years a pair built a nest up against the local Dairy Queen.  We don't go by there much these days, but I think they stopped.  I don't know if they were successful or not in raising little ones.

Illinois barn

I think this old barn has been hit with wind a few too many times.

Moon shot from the archives

It has been ages since I took a shot of the moon....so found this one that has never been published.

A handsome hawk.

At long last, an actual new photo, taken on March 9, 2022.  (It still feels strange to type 2022.)  I think it was a Red-tailed hawk.  It sure was a big one.

Look at all the babies!

I have never been around sheep...other than to see them at the fairs.  I just think the lambs are so darling.

Early morning reflections

I love the muted colors of this early morning shot on the Wabash River.

Quilt block

I have a set of these blocks that I made several years ago, but have yet to decide how I want to sew them together.  Indecision is my middle name about some things.  I can always see so many choices.  Which can be good in some ways. But in others not so much.  Below is a closer view of a section of it...hand stitching on these blocks also.

Long gone

This barn is long gone...this was taken at the end of 2007.

From 14 years ago

Just thought it would be neat to this photo today...since it was taken on this date 14 years ago.

Wintry scene

I thought I would double your pleasure with a view that includes two barns.

A favorite

Look at the look in his eyes...he only had eyes for this daughter.  He just came here, we never knew where from.  I won't call him a stray because he was too well taken care of.   I tried to find the owners...and had about given up and was just going to keep him and he disappeared.   I drove every street in this town and a nearby town trying to find him...I looked down ever alley.  I never saw him again.

A young Bubbie

He was only a few months old here...this was in 2007.  He is an old man now.

The whole

The church as a whole is a beauty.
