They remind me of some character years ago in Tex Avery directed Warner Brothers and MGM cartoons--- uh, yup... Which way did he go? They may not be pretty, but they keep things cleaned up.
they are so graceful when soaring above and seen from the ground are beautiful. up close and personal not so much. our earth needs them to clean up the mess us humans make
Great photo of the vulture, Rose. I saw a couple last year across the street from my house, and they were feasting on squirrel. They are really unusual birds; not my favorite. ; )
Come to think of it, I have never seen a noticeably scared vulture. I think people are supposed to be afraid of THEM!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that they pee on their legs. The pee is antibacterial, and kills any germs they have from eating dead creatures.
ReplyDeleteWe could learn a lot from them!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful plumage on the wings (shame about the face).
ReplyDeleteThey're cool!!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought they are the ugliest bird I have ever seen. When you see them soaring through the sky though, they look so graceful.

It should be breathtaking to watch it take off.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shot!
We have alot of turkey vultures here. They hang about in trees not too far from me. Nicely captured.
ReplyDeleteThey do seem relaxed. Maybe they know that nobody wants to mess with them. Good shot.
ReplyDeleteA splendid close-up with beautiful plumage detail!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are one of the ugliest birds around.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they do their "JOB" though.
Great capture.
Sue
They have some interesting faces, but oh my,when in flight they are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThey are such interesting birds. I have seen groups of them congregating on people's roofs. This is a great image. Beautiful color and detail.
