Another Dickcissel

I cannot resist trying to photograph one when I am given the opportunity.  Before the land was being farmed at the strip mining area one was always in sight and within hearing of one.  Now they are not quite so numerous.

  1. What a good photo. I would never be able to tell the difference between one and a sparrow.

  2. it's strange how birds come and go in a landscape. Some that were common in my childhood have now pretty much disappeared; but then again there are birds here now that I never dreamed of seeing back then.

  7. We are losing many species through civilization, like how we lost our house sparrows in our city! Here's a beautiful capture, and it resembles a portrait.
