Our daughter was mowing the yard and sent a text that it was hunting again...I grabbed my camera and got a couple half decent shots. We have seen it three times now. We are pretty sure it is an Osprey. Anyone that knows for sure either way, I am open to your idea.
It's not easy to get a good shot of a flying bird. But she did great!
ReplyDeleteA magnificent image of this bird in flight. A great action shot with perfect timing. I am not as familiar with birds of prey as I am with other birds. It certainly does look like one with the white chest and brown stripe across the head. Do you have a large body of water nearby or a stream? They live mostly near water.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks very much like an Osprey to me. Great to see.

ReplyDeleteYup, that's an Osprey right enough! YAM xx
Impressionnante ta photo pour ce bel oiseau inconnu pour moi
ReplyDeleteOsprey for sure!
ReplyDeleteyes it is an osprey and I did not know you had them close by, they hunt only fish, which means water nearby. Did not realized you had water nearby. the idiots at Bray Park removed all the osprey nests that have been there for years and used each year for babies. they replaced the light bars with bigger ones. humans are ruining our park for us and for birds, pouring concrete and changing it from a park preserve to a human complex. at least they have left most of the old oak trees.. beautiful shot of the osprey
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mid-air capture!
ReplyDeleteLove the majestic look of this Osprey.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of capturing it in flight.

I'm bad at identifying birds so I'll take your ID. Nice shot. I'm never very good at getting photos of anything moving.
ReplyDeleteI'd say an Osprey too. Terrific shot.
ReplyDeleteEveryone thinks Osprey ... it's a lovely looking bird.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
