This is just a few hundred feet from this.....look at those blue skies! Seems like forever since we have seen weather like that.
I would love to see this at night...I think it is has lights. Wouldn't that be a warm greeting to come upon on a cold winter night?
I took a short drive to the strip pits the other day....this was the best shot of the short-eared owl in my opinion. I posted more a couple or three days ago on my other blog if you care to go look...

This is Brouillette's Creek....it starts over in Illinois and eventually makes it way to the Wabash River. This photo was taken in Indiana just mile or so from the Illinois border.

His name is Diamond, and even though I swore no more dogs after we lost Shelby early this past summer, I would take this dog in a heartbeat. He has a lovely personality...and he is young. Just what I need....
I have been in and through Eugene a lot of times, and noticed this building for the first time last weekend. It is the Eugene Township Trustees.
This is one of the covered bridges of Parke County, Indiana. It goes across Sugar Creek....Roger has went there with buddies and they have waded the creek fishing. 
It is a fairly long bridge...over 300 ft. long. Its a double span...built in 1876! Just think it is over 100 years old.
In my opinion, there is something so appealing about a barn/snow scene. I shot this photo over the weekend and decided to use it for the new barn meme started by Tricia over at the Bluff Area Daily blog....see her there if you want to join or just check out the submissions.
A heavy wet snow blankets our landscape around here....things previously ugly are made new and beautiful.
We took a side street in Montezuma...that a sort of joke. If you knew how small Montezuma is, you would understand. Oh, it has more than a hundred people...I just checked and according to the place I found it has a population of 1,179. This cabin was in someone's backyard. It was really small...
When we were out last weekend, we stopped for me to take this photo. Doesn't this look like the perfect place to let your kids play. It is out in the middle of nowhere. We crossed the bridge to go up this hill....
when this sign caught my eye as we passed. I had Roger back up.
I feel like only in Indiana would you find something like this!
There is hardly anything colorful left from fall....
everything else is so gray or brown.

Though this is not a very good picture, I have to show it to prove to you there were 4 eagles!!! Click it to make it bigger...you can easily see the two adults with their white heads...and the youngster that is farthest away is close to the adult and fairly easily seen. The youngster that is closer to us in the photo, is over my copyright.
All four flew up and headed towards the river however this one circled back to fly over the farmland surrounding us. It is the same eagle in both pictures.
I was so hoping to see an eagle today, but usually the days I start out hoping to see one, I don't. And I did not in my wildest dreams think I would see more than one. In my younger years, I never would have expected to see an eagle any place other than the zoo!
This is a farm we seen on one of the back roads as we came home from Arthur, Illinois the other day.

I wonder if the canoe will be used any more this summer or is it waiting to be put away for the winter. This creek looked so lonely but beautiful to me. This photo does not do it justice, but it serves as a reminder of a beautiful scene.
This is a drive-by shot I took today on our way to Arthur, Illinois. There was a fairly steady wind...and I loved the way the the tree's limbs swayed. For once, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the photo turned out...taken from a vehicle going 60mph. If I get brave, one of these days I might show some of the rejects in the drive-by shots! But for now, I will stick with the better photos.
This was taken either in northwestern Georgia or northeastern Alabama....it is not the greatest picture but I love the layered look of the mountains.
This is another shot from my last drive over in Illinois...it might not appeal to you but it does to me. I am not sure why...probably the sky has a lot to do with it.
So many barns need a little bit of maintenance...I always wonder why they don't get it. I always wonder is the money it would take a factor, or is it just a matter of having the time to get to the job. Probably some of both.
This is the back way to Bridgeton, Indiana. This weekend is the end of the Covered Bridge Festival for another year. If I had been there today it would have been impossible to stop and take a picture...it is dangerous enough normal times cause it is taken from the crest of the hill and no room to pull off. Today there would be a constant stream of traffic....over a million people come to Parke County each year for the festival. Along every road leading into Parke County, there are yard sales, and every little town has stuff going on, but Bridgeton and Mansfield probably have the most vendors. 
Actually this is a strip pit...we were out there a couple weeks ago. I walked along the edge of this one. There were tons of little frogs--not the teeny tiny ones, but ones about an inch and a half long. They had had time to grow just a little bit. I wonder will they all survive the winter. They were so quick I could not capture even a blurred photo of one.
This would be a fun place to sit and watch the time roll by...it is in Parke County, Indiana.
