When we drive into Michigan, we like to take the back roads instead of the highways whenever possible. We quite often find a turtle that needs to cross the road at a faster pace than HE is going for safety sake. I love turtles. When the boys were little they brought one home from the river. We kept him for a many years. We called him Stretch because when you picked him up he could stretch his neck around and snap you. When the boys grew up, Stretch went back to the river. You have to love a turtle! xx, Carol
i see the guys all the time .. notice people over to get them across the road. not sure why they do that. i wonder how many are left? we had one time would see them in our yard ... not sure which year it was ... but found a shell with no turtle left? what happened? kind of made me so sad. they are so cute. maybe cute is not the right word ... but neat? ha. ha! We stopped for a turtle some years back-- it seemed quite unusual, so we took it home. Guess what--- They really don't smell very good! Anyway, an expert from the University came and said that he really was out of his element-- and took him to safer environs. Nice pictures!
Hi, the turtle is adorable. We find them once in a while around our home. I think this is my first time visiting your blog, I will poke around :) Thank you for visiting my barn post and blog last week.
...I never knew that you were a crossing guard!
ReplyDeleteWhat brilliant markings! You did a good deed for sure. Do they snap?
ReplyDeleteIt would do us all good to slow down to his speed.

You did a good deed to help him across. He might not have survived if you hadn't.
ReplyDeleteTheo often spots these on his daily walk.
