Eye of the beholder

I am not sure what he thought of me, but he did not seem near as afraid as some of the red-winged blackbirds are. He chirped and flitted around several minutes...I think I was the one to drive on rather than him fly away.

Peek-a-boo, I see you

I saw several frogs as I drove through the strip pit area yesterday...this is the best capture.

With a little luck

As I was walking back to the car after photographing the heron shown in the previous post, I looked down and there was this 4-leaf clover.

First Blue Heron of the summer

This heron was acting very strange...we were visiting a covered bridge. He flew up from right below the bridge and I could see that he just flew up and over the bank to land in a field. I was in hot pursuit...I hurried up and through the bridge, and there he was in the field. Even though I was out in a wide open spot, all he would do is walk away a little bit. I did not try to get too close...I am thinking it had young nearby and wanted to lure us away from the area.

Rural mail delivery

Isn't this a wonderful place for a mailbox? It is in lovely Parke County in Indiana.

Cat in the country

We saw this cat run across the road ahead of us the other day...when we got to where I was within distance for a half decent shot, he paused just long enough for this one photo and he was gone! I think he is quite the handsome fellow.

Swallowtail, of some sort

This butterfly kept fluttering around right before we headed home from our fishing yesterday. I figures soon as I got my camera it would leave, but decided to attempt capturing it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised when I got back to the sandbar to find it still fluttering from here to there. I just stood still near where it had been previously and it eventually came and posed for this photograph. I do not recall ever seeing one of these before...not in real life. I think I have seen one or two on other blogs.

Looks like this has new tires and is ready to go....I wish it were mine

Country views

I first noticed the calves laying there...they make my heart flutter to see them. It always sort of breaks my heart cause I know I will more than likely never carry one to the barn again, never feed one with a bottle, never name one again.

Then my eyes traveled to the building....I wonder if it was at one time a home or was it always just an outbuilding?

A repeat of the Poland Chapel

I have posted this picture before on The World in Black & White, but ran across it the other night and like it so well I am going to post it again. And you can see the colored version, plus other shots HERE on my other blog. Since I took those pictures, it was set on fire...you can read about that here.

Neet Bridge

If you enlarge this, you will see that the title of this post is not a misspelling but is the actual name of this bridge. It is sort of amazing...this little bridge is like so many of the ones in Parke County--it is out in the middle of no where. This one can not be traveled through, lots of them can be driven through.

Seen on a country drive

I wonder if the guys from the show American Pickers would want this bike...I bet they would. I would like to know how long the bike has been parked there...if not for the weeds one would think it might have been ridden in the past day or two.

Unresistable beauty....

I got this post ready yesterday, then while going though some of the pics taken with my original rebel, I decided I should also post this pic taken the other day of my wisteria. I planted it year before last and it is just loaded with bloom this year.
This of the locust bloom was my original post...I very seldom include two photos in one post here, but thought since these were both pods of blooms that they went well together.

A house

I wonder if the rock was original to the house or it was added later....I normally love any kind of rock work and it isn't that I don't like this. It just doesn't appeal to me as much as normal.

Look at the green!

I am still finding pleasure in seeing the fresh green of the trees...it won't be long till we don't even notice it but for right now I am loving it.

Bridgeton Mill

Read about the mill HERE...it is quite interesting I think. Their claim to fame is that they have been open every year for 180 years....
