Coneflowers

We were at the tail waters of the dam the other day....as we were leaving, we noticed the coneflowers. I had another coneflower photo session with them. I like the vine curling around in this shot.

Barn Charm!!!!

I'm going to try to settle down tonight and do Barn Charm....was gone for the weekend and had things to do that I left without doing so just did not put up a post last night. AND, since we have not been taking many drives, I am going back to these barn shots taken June 22 of this year.
I don't know why I haven't posted it before now...I do like it...
even if it is a little bit worse for wear.
I do wonder what happened to those boards...it looks like something ate them.

Glorious

We took a short drive yesterday to see what the creeks looked like...this is the scene on the way to the first creek....at least someone appears to be getting a little rain.
We heard just a tiny bit of thunder, and actually had a drop or two hit us at that covered bridge, but that was it here.
Just had to post all three of these here...click on them to enlarge and get the feel better.

ETA: Also notice the green in the last picture...things in this direction did not seem quite as stressed there. Oh, there were some fields that were...but there was definitely more green.

Take a look at this....

Do you notice anything different about this planter?

See the tree that has grown up through it?
Wonder how long it sat in one spot for a tree to grow that big? I know it isn't huge, but it has still taken several years for a tree of that diameter.

From the land before drought...

That is the blur of the windshield across the bottom...I was taking the shot through Roger's side of the Rav.

We actually have a chance of rain tomorrow, so maybe we will see green grass again before the summer is gone.

From July 16, 2012

This was taken out at the strip pits the last time I was there. I wasn't going to post this, but then I saw this post at Mike and D's Life in the Hoosier State and Beyond and I thought, I might as well.
She lives about 2 hours east of me...imagine us seeing the same cloud. And if you read her post, she has a link to even more photos.

A bit of purple....

I was leaning over a fence trying to capture this....Beebalm is one of the common names.

Friday's fences

I got this top one a while back while out on a drive....I had forgotten all about it till I ran across it tonight.
This is another from Patton's Corner, but I like the fence in the background...

Leftovers for Barn Charm

I have not got to shoot many barns lately...this one I shot from the Rav. We were stopped and I was shooting past Roger.

You have to look close to see the doors.

This one below has been posted years ago on my Pics & Pieces blog...but I love it so am showing it again here. I don't know where this is at, just know that it is at least south of Terre Haute.

I think this one was at Tangier or Bloomingdale, Indiana but I would not swear to it.
Joining Tricia's Barn Charm meme with these.

????

We are not sure what this is...it is from Patton's Corner, too. Roger thought it might be some kind of pressure cooker. It has a gauge on it and seemed to be sealed. I really have no idea.

Now showing in its entirety

Since Lorelei will be here later, and I won't have time to participate in Friday's Fences...I thought I would show the what the photo in the previous post came from.
Can you imagine the rough ride that this gave?
Also, just think what this invention meant to farmers.

Holding on for dear life....

I ran through the strip pits a bit ago...this dragonfly was having to hold on because the wind never stops. I was amazed I got this nice photo. It is cropped from the original.

Another charming barn...

I am not normally charmed by metal wrapped barns...but then there are always exceptions. And this was one of them. I think they must have been trying to save it.
Something must have happened, or they ran out of money before they got to the roof.
It has sure been a beauty in its day, and still holds a lot of charm for me.

This is my entry to Tricia's Barn Charm Meme.

Shot taken at Patton's Corner...I can't wait for some nicer weather to go back there.

Wild onions for Friday's fences + something fun!

Normally, I try to stick to the subject at hand...and will start out by doing just that....I could not believe these were wild onions. I am sure I must have known it in my youth, but Roger had to pull one up to convince me that it was indeed wild onions. I thought this one with the fence made a lovely shot. We had a woven wire fence around our yard as a kid...
And below is minus the fence but including a bee...
The above is my entry for Friday's fences....I hope to see you there.

Now to the fun part. Most of you probably know Theresa at The RunARound Ranch Report.

Each month she has a give-away of some of her artwork. You can click here to see what she has given away in the past. I am not sure how long I have been visiting her blog, but I finally won this beauty! She just put up this month's give-away yesterday. Check out her blog, become a follower, and leave a comment to enter.

All of its glory

This is the glorious trumpet vine...I have a love-hate relationship with it. I cannot help but thrill with the beauty of it. Yet when I worked at the orchard, I seen what it can do. It can literally strangle the life out of a tree.

The house at Patton's Corner

Now you thought the shed/shack from yesterday had a lot...take a gander at this!
You cannot see the tree for the woods...there is just too much stuff to take it all in.
****************
Lorelei and her mommy are here, so I probably won't get much visiting done at all today, or tomorrow either.
