Stepping back in time...

This is a photo I have posted before, but ran across it and it still appeals to me.  I don't recall exactly where it was taken.  Somewhere in Indiana, and going by the photos surrounding it, somewhere in Parke County.

Sign of spring...

Robins are back in full force...we cannot go anywhere without seeing them.  They are always welcome at our house...

Ever since we raised Cheep-cheep, every time I see one I think of him.

More Parke County barns...

It is time for the Barn Collective to kick here are some more barns from Parke County in Indiana.

Not the most high quality photo, but I love the misty fog seen with this barn...

I just wish they had been in better focus...

Here you have the colored version.

This barn sits fairly close to the road..well, actually there are two barns.  And we pass it several times a year, but I have never gotten a good photo of either one.

A favorite house

We pass this little farm house fairly often.  I would love to see inside of it.  I would love to know how old it is.  That truck is almost always parked there.

More old buildings

These buildings were not very far from the brick kilns...

This is the  house that the first little building belongs to.

Here is the colored version, and below will be a shot that I zoomed in for.

Acme Brick Company...

We had to kill a few minutes waiting for a shop to open, and we passed by the Acme Brick Company in Cayuga, Indiana.  You can read some of its history here

As you can see it appears to be being dismantled...just with in the past year or so it has closed down the kilns. You can see my first post about them HERE.  And you can read a newspaper article about its closing Here.  We happened to find it quite by accident and always meant to go back and take a tour and just never made it back.  I so regret that now...

When we were there, the guys we talked to told us the kilns were going 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  We did not have time that day or else it was the weekend, but the young man said the owners were always glad to give a tour.

I always hate to see a business close after such a long life.

I would love to go back and take more photos....

Lunch time....

I hurriedly snapped a few quick photos of this calf out at the strip pits.

I am wondering about the drainage from its eyes...

I did not notice till I download thes pics.

Photo overload of one subject....

We made a pass through the strip pits late this afternoon...I cannot choose just one photo so what follows is a lot of photos of two Ring-necked pheasants we saw out there.

This one above I really, really had to work with in Picasa--and it still isn't the greatest.

The one above and the one below are very similar, but am still posting them both

Look at the one below...

it had just 'shaken it off.'  If you look you can see that its feathers are ruffled...

The one above is a different bird and this is cropped from a photo that was taken at quite a distance.

And here it is again...original photo followed by a cropped version.

and below is my last pheasant photo....for now..

I am linking this to Tuesday's Treasures cause I sure consider them a treasure.  These are the only two we seen today...they are few and far between out there now.  Two or three years ago, we would have seen 8 or 10 on a spring afternoon.

Also going to link to the Bird D'Pot at I'd Rather B' Birdin'.

Parke County Barns....

I think this barn has a new roof since the last time I photographed it.

I zoomed in a bit...that looks like a giant snake crawling in through the door.

These are all within about a two or three mile stretch of road...

I take photos of them every chance I get...

This one sits behind the one right above it.  I liked it better in B&W.

Then I zoomed in a bit.

Thought I would share the color version...

Linking to the Barn Collective...hoping I remember to later tonight.

Handsome goat

We passed this fellow lives at this farm that used to always have chickens.  But I have not seen a single chicken there in the last two times we have passed by. Maybe they decided to try goats instead.

This is another building from the Skinner Farm Museum...I don't remember asking where it was from.  Everything there had a history.  I am hoping that some time in the future Roger will feel like going back there.

Weather vanes for Tuesday's treasures....

I was trying to find something for Tuesday's Treasures ad ran across all these weather vanes...

they were up at Shipshewana, Indiana.

I wish I had taken time to take more  photos of individual weather vanes.

Do you see one you would like to have for your barn/house/garage?
