Farm house gone...

We passed  this farm last week.  In this photo I am driving east.  The other day I was coming from the east...so did not realize till we got past the barn that the farm house was gone.  There was a pile of rubble in its place.  My heart just sank...I just so hate that it is gone.

Parke County Barn

I take photos of this barn every time I pass it, which isn't often.  But sometimes take a drive by it just so I can get a new pictures.

From September

I have been undecided about posting this....one time I look at it and I like it and other times not so sure.  But I will let you be the judge...

How about another barn?

This one could use a little bit of work

A barn like this still appeals to me.

A new to me barn....

I know I have passed by this barn, but it sets way back off the road...I think it is a beauty!

From Northern Indiana

Just a few shots from near Shipshewana, Indiana....

I love driving through Amish country.

I know they weren't actually leaning, but every time I look at photos I have of these two, I have the feeling the dark brown one is leaning against the building, and that the smaller horse is leaning against the bigger horse.

These were all taken in October of 2015.

From 2007

FYI, this house is gone now...

but as far as I know, the barn is still standing.

I used to go by there fairly often, but now am lucky if we ramble by it once a year.

This is one of the smaller covered bridges of Parke County.

Round barn, log cabin, and more...

This round barn is what originally what drew me to this place.  I don't remember where I heard about it.  It is not in my book A Round Indiana, Round Barns of Indiana by John T. Hanou.

This log cabin is at the Skinner Farm Museum, too.  It was moved there; I don't remember where it was in its former life.  And notice in the background is a brick home.  It is two stories, and is a fairly big home...and it was moved there from a few miles away!  I do not recall if the round barn was already there or if the guy moved it there, too.  I think most buildings there are buildings he moved there.

I don't know why I am showing this one...I don't remember a thing about it.  I like that it is old...I like that it is logs with the ends notched.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these.

Slipping back into blogging....

I am offering the color version and the B&W version of these pics.  This is a barn I first saw on the way to Tennessee last fall.  It was absolute bumper to bumper traffic on this back road at that time.  I was driving and just no way to snap a single pic. You can see that it is through the windshield.  It was raining of course.

So, yesterday was the day of the funeral...it was in Indy....Sarah was going so we met her at her work and rode together.  I could not believe it when she turned on the road this barn was on.  And yesterday there was no traffic to speak of.

I would love to be able to see inside this beauty and know its history.  I just so love it.

I hope you enjoy seeing it half as much as I did.

An oldie...

I don't think I have ever posted this before...it is from somewhere here in Indiana.  Taken in 2011.  I know it is in Indiana because of the other photos taken that day.

Wonder if it is still standing?

I know the area this is in, but would have to get on google earth to find it.  I would love to go see if it still survives.

Both of these photos were taken on the same drive, but I cannot think for the life of me where this one is.

Barns of Parke County

We pass this barn several times a year...it is near Bridgeton, Indiana

This is the same barn, taken from a different spot...

This barn is just a little way from the first barn...I am pretty sure they are within view of each other.

From autumn...

There was a post I did a while back with pumpkins on posts, and in the background this barn can be seen.

So I thought I would give a better view of it...

Parke County Barn

A beauty from last weekend....

I was going to stop and get another view but someone was coming up behind me so we had to move on.  Notice way, way on past the barn in the background is another barn!

I will be linking to the Barn Collective later.
